Plot:
Aubrey is an eleven year old girl who lost her father and sister in a terrible car accident. Her mother goes into a depression and abandons her in their home. Surviving on her own is not an easy thing to do, especially when no one can know she is all on her own. Finally, Aubrey's grandmother comes by worried and discovers the abandonment. Aubrey has to move to another state and start all over. She has her grandmother's love as well as the company of the family next door to her new home. As Aubrey grieves her entire family, she writes letters. This helps her work through her emotions of loss and abandonment.

Review:
This was a powerful book about the resilience of children in the midst of tragedy. Aubrey was uprooted from her home and all they she knew. She felt unwanted by her mother but at the same time she felt bad for her mother and realized they both needed to heal. This book is one I thought about long after reading it. It deals with serious issues without creating a gloom and doom book.
