About the Album and Artist:
Teenage Dream is Katy Perry's second album. She made her debut with "I Kissed a Girl" in 2008 and became a huge star. Katy writes all of her own music which is not popular these days. This gives the listeners a look into who she is and creates a connection different from if she was simply singing the music.

Katy Perry is a performer. She pus on elaborate shows and makes people notice who she is. She does this without being too out there which gives her a good balance. She has made many appearances on television shows as well. In the past four years, Katy Perry has been all over the United States media and her creativity has not run out yet.

Critical Evaluation:
Teenage Dream is an interesting album with 14 unique songs in terms of their lyrics. Some of her instrumentals sound very similar to each other which can make the album less interesting. Her songs are very catchy and many of them are on the radio. Teenage Dream does not have very many slower songs so the whole album is full of energy. This could bore the listener or energize them.

Challenging Issues:
If this album were to be challenged, I would go through the selection process with the challenger as well as explain the rationale for the music. There are many good qualities in this album that could be reason to have it in a collection.

Why Listen:
Katy Perry is an up and coming artist who knows what today's teens want to hear. She is a song writer and artist.
